James Vernon "Hutch" Hutchins was born on Wednesday; March 31, 1926 in Woodward; Woodward County, Oklahoma. James was the son of Roy and Tresea (VonSchritz) Hutchins. Following high school he enlisted with the United States Navy serving aboard the USS Maryland during World War II. On Saturday; July 9, 1955, he married Betty L. Hubbard in Denver; Denver County, Colorado. The couple moved to the Coralville; Johnson County, Iowa area where for many years he worked as a drywall contractor, known by many as "Hutch" in his business, Hutchins Drywall. Jim enjoyed life, from golfing, race horses, to his many friends through the years.

Those left to mourn his passing are: His daughter: Carol & her husband: Mike Strabala of Iowa City, Iowa. Grandson: Chris & his wife: Tessa Strabala of North Liberty; Johnson County, Iowa and granddaughter: Staff Sgt. Ashley Strabala of the United States Air Force, presently stationed in San Antonio, Texas; and former wife: Betty Hutchins of Iowa City, Iowa. His siblings: Claude Hutchins of Oklahoma City; Oklahoma County, Oklahoma. Hazel Hall of Yukon; Canadian County, Oklahoma and Joy Hoffman of Guyman; Texas County, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Dean Hutchins and sisters: Leona Johnston & Margrete Carlton. May they rest in peace.
