Private, Co. F, 5th Massachusetts Infantry
The son of William O. and Adeline Lincoln of Hingham, MA, William, then 18, was working in that town as a clerk when he enlisted in the army on July 14, 1864 and was mustered two days later as a Private in Co. F of the 5th Massachusetts Infantry. His 100-day regiment was assigned to garrison forts in the city of Baltimore until mustered out on Nov. 16, 1864.
Revere probably met his future wife Amanda Pierce when he resided in close proximity to her family in Cumberland, RI in 1865. According to the 1865 Rhode Island Census he was employed as a Civil Engineer. He and Amanda were a married couple residing on Joy St., Boston with Revere working as a clerk in 1880. Their daughter Belle was born in Illinois in 1884. The 1900 census lists the family in Cicero and Revere's occupation as a druggist, although probably in a clerk's position. He filed for a veteran's pension in 1903. The family was in Oak Park by 1910, when Revere worked as a dry goods saleman and daughter Belle as a an office clerk for a railroad. Revere died shortly after the latter census was taken in May 1910.
