Carey Odell Wicker, 65, of Smithdale, died Aug. 29, 2007, at his residence. Visitation is 5 to 8 tonight at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb and 9 a.m. Saturday until services there at 10 a.m. The Rev. Gerald Wicker and the Rev. Maurice Wicker will officiate. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery. Mr. Wicker was born Sept. 9, 1941, in Amite County. He was the son of the Rev. C.R. Wicker and Mary Elaine Barron Wicker of Smithdale. He was a Baptist, and was a supervisor with Sanderson Farms and a retired truck driver. Mr. Wicker's family said he was a very loving, caring and thoughtful husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and baseball. He also enjoyed farming. Mr. Wicker was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alvie and Dollie Wicker, and Jeff and Odell Barron; a brother, Alvie Ray Wicker; and a special aunt, Winnie Nunnery. Survivors include his parents; his wife of 45 years, Gloria Harvey Wicker of Smithdale; a son and daughter-in-law, Carey Wayne and Becky Wicker of Summit; two daughters and a son-in-law, Bettina Gaye "Tina" Price and Joe of Summit, and Christie E'Laine Hoots of Bogue Chitto; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Brenda Wicker of Smithdale, and Lester and Brenda Wicker of Summit; eight grandchildren, Cherish Cruise and her husband Jamie, Ryan Price, Brea Helen Hoots, Chelsea Wicker, Victoria Price, Courtney Wicker, Caleb Bonson and Daniel Bonson; and a special friend, Dr. David Smith. Pallbearers will be Curtis Wicker, Bobby Wayne Wicker, Jeff Wicker, Michael Allen, Burton Boyd Jr. and Stephen Harvey. Honorary pallbearers will be Kirby Harvey, Terry Harvey, Billy Harvey, Julius Harvey and Jeremy Wicker.
