Dorothy Mae Barron Martin, age 92, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2020. Dorothy was born July 21, 1928 in Natchez, Mississippi to Lena Chisholm Barron and John Floyd Barron.

Dorothy worked for many years in different offices in the Shreveport area. She was a stay at home mom for many years while raising Don and Sue. She enjoyed working in her garden, cooking, bowling, traveling and was an excellent seamstress. Being with her husband, Wray and her family brought her the most happiness.

Dorothy was a loving, kind, generous person always ready to lend a helping hand. She always had a meal for visitors and treated everyone like family.

Dorothy is survived by son Donald W. Martin and wife Sherry Logsdon Martin; daughter Cynthia Sue Martin Aucoin and husband John Stephen Aucoin; sister-in-law Jerry Barron; grandsons Scott Phillips, Patrick Phillips, Casey Martin, William “Bill” Martin and their wives and 12 great grandchildren; step granddaughters Danielle Aucoin Lacey, Adrienne Aucoin Brasseaux and their husbands and 5 great grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Wray D. Martin; parents; brothers H.E. “Buddy” Barron and wife Pet Hobbs Barron, William “Bill” Barron; sister Ann L. Barron Davis and husband John Davis.

A visitation for Dorothy will be held Tuesday, September 8 from 1:00pm until service time at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Rd, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. The funeral service will begin at 2:00pm. Following Dorothy’s service, a burial will take place in Centuries Memorial Park. Honoring the family as pallbearers is Scott Phillips, Casey Martin, Patrick Phillips, Bill Martin, Addison Phillips, and Landon Phillips.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at United Home Health Care and regional Hospice for their loving care of our mother.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Associations.
