Jessie “Joy” “Granny” Gerald, 82, of the 2900 block of Tyre Neck Road, passed away Monday, September 7, 2020 in her residence following a courageous battle with cancer. A native of Valdosta, GA, she was predeceased by her husbands, Oscar T. Gerald and Deryl T. Quidley, Sr.; her parents, Luther E. and Betrece Jacobs Jones; her daughter, Teresa A. Gerald; her son, Michael L. Gerald; a sister, Emma Lee Broome; and five brothers, Billy, Edgar, Dan, Bobby and Hugh Jones.
She is survived by two daughters, Marlene Q. Bohanon of Chesapeake and Patricia C. Youngblood of Gallatin, TN; two sons, Deryl T. “Bubba” Quidley, Jr. and David A. Gerald, both of Chesapeake; three sisters-in-law, Nora Jones and Joanne Lynn, both of Macon, GA, and Carolyn Collins of Chesapeake; six grandchildren, Amanda Grimm, Shane Quidley, Justin and Matt Bohanon, Lane and Logan Kuhn; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 11, at Olive Branch Cemetery.
