Maxey C. McCrackin

Maxey C. McCrackin, 82, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully at home, on Tuesday September 8, 2020. Maxey was born in Alamo, Georgia on March 10, 1938. He was the only child of Johnny McCrackin and Bessie Thompson McCrackin. He graduated from Broxton (Georgia) High School in 1956.

He married Linda Chambers in Cedar Springs (Early County), Georgia on April 14, 1960. In addition to his career in the United States Treasury Department, Maxey also worked for HRBlock for 19 years. He was a deacon at Whitehouse Baptist Church for several years and was active in the music ministry. He played the piano and loved to sing. He was a member of the Proclaimers Quartet, as well as the Jacksonville Gospel Brass. He loved traveling, playing golf with friends from church, and visits from his grandchildren and family.

Maxey is survived by his wife of sixty years, Linda. He had two sons and two wonderful daughters-in-law – James Patrick (wife Denise), and Tony (wife Wynette). Two granddaughters – Casey, and Bridget (husband Grant) and two grandsons – Travis (wife Katie) and Tyler (wife Katie). There are seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The viewing will be Monday, September 14, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Fraser Funeral Home on Normandy Blvd. The service will be Tuesday, September 15 at 10:00 am at Whitehouse Baptist Church. Maxey will be laid to rest at Cedar Springs (Georgia) cemetery later that afternoon.
