Gilbert H. Fahrenkamp, one of Gods good and faithful servants passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at the age of 96. Gilbert was the youngest of William and Helena Fahrenkamp s 10 children and the last to reach his heavenly home. Born in Big Spring, Texas he moved to El Paso as a young child and was a graduate of El Paso High School. On September 23, 1934, he married Llewellyn Weeth who preceded him in death 3 years ago 25 days before their 70th wedding anniversary. Gilbert served his country during WWII serving in New Guinea. He owned the house wares department at the White House Department Store in downtown El Paso and then after many years retired from the El Paso Natural Gas Company. He is survived by his nephew and niece Gilbert and Peggie Grove of Las Vegas, NV, his niece and nephew Rachael and Ray Klein of El Paso along with 6 great nieces and nephews, 8 great great nieces and nephews, and his cousins Lynn and Jim Fager of El Paso. He loved his Lord and his church, Zion Lutheran and served as its treasurer for 35 years. Funeral Service will be held, on Saturday September 15, 2007 at Zion Lutheran Church 2800 Pershing Dr. at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be his great nephews; Van H. Klein, John Kivatisky, Rob Navara, Dr. Chris Hopp, cousin Jim Fager and dear friend Mac Etheridge. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Bilodeau, Carlos Chavez, Sammy Johnson, Jim McVay, Jim Nymann, Jim Pofahl, Dr. Dan Roberts, and Jim Smith. Interment to follow at Restlawn Cemetery with the Reverend Howard Patton officiating. Our thanks to Olga Briseno who gave Gilbert such loving care in her foster home the past few months. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church, 2800 Pershing Dr. El Paso, TX 79903. Dear Uncle Gilbert our love goes with you and thank you for yours for so many years we will miss you.
