IN MEMORY OF Mary E. Black born near Hickory Flat, Cherokee County, Georgia, or in Sugar Valley, Cass County (which became Gordon Co, GA in 1850). Her grave marker has not been found yet. Her parents, siblings, and other relatives are buried in this cemetery which was vandalized. She was a daughter of William Henry Harrison Black, and Nancy Brown, married on 3 Aug 1841 in Cherokee County, Georgia, Book A, Page 11.

1835 Jan 14th, Lot 685, Sec 2nd, Dist 15th, 40 acres.
1836 Mar 14th, Lot 686, Sec 2nd, Dist 15th, 40 acres.
1836 Dec 13th, Lot 682, Sec 2nd, Dist 15th, 40 acres.
1837 Jun 15th, Lot 720, Sec 2nd, Dist 2nd, 40 acres formerly Cherokee Co., now Cass Co., GA, later Bartow Co.
1841 Dec 27th, Lot 328, Sec 2nd, Dist 21st, 40 acres, Cherokee Co., GA.
1843 Feb 8th, part of Lot 828, Sec 15th, Dist 2nd, 3 acres, Cherokee Co., GA. to Wm H. Black, Trustee, and other Trustees of Methodist Episcopal Church to establish Mt Gilead Church near Hickory Flat, GA.

They moved and family attended the Old Sugar Valley Methodist Episcopal Church, Gordon Co, GA.

Also, the family lived near and had burials in Baugh Cemetery located about 1 1/2 mile south of the church on the same highway, but it was bulldozed during pine tree harvesting, and no grave markers are visible. It was noted on a real estate survey around the year 2005.
