Professional Baseball Player. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, he played Major League Baseball for four seasons as a third baseman and backup infielder. He made his Major League debut with the Baltimore Orioles on May 7, 1901 when he was 26 years old. After appearing in 14 games with the Orioles in 1901, he toiled in the minor leagues until his contract was purchased by the Chicago White Sox from New Orleans of the Southern Association in 1905. Even though the season was nearly over, Rohe was pressed into service as a backup infielder for 34 games. The following year, he played in 77 games with the pennant winning White Sox and saw extensive service during the 1906 World Series against the Chicago Cubs. He appeared in all six games and set a World Series record by hitting two triples in a six game series, a record that he shares with four other players. In 1907, he became the starting third baseman and appeared in all 144 games. He was also involved in fielding a rare triple play where all three outs were recorded by tagging runners. During his career, he played in 269 games, banged out 197 hits, clubbed three homeruns, and collected 92 runs batted in. He also stole 27 bases while batting .227 overall. He died in Cincinnati in 1957 when he was 83 years old.
