Emigrated from Ireland to Canada, with 2 brothers, James & William, before 1825. He was a school teacher before marriage. About 1828 he married Lydia Fadden of Clarenceville, Quebec, and settled there. Robert & Lydia were members of the Episcopal Church in Clarenceville and Robert ran a saw mill there. Next to his mill was a pond where resided great tortises and Robert's children who were all born in Clarenceville used to ride them. In 1861 he moved his family south to Horicon, Warren Co., NY, where he lived the next 30+ years as a farmer. Four of wife Lydia's siblings also moved from Canada to Horicon, NY. In their last years, Robert & Lydia lived with their son John McKee in Horicon. Robert lived to 92 years old. His cane (Shillelagh) with brass tip is in the posession of the author.
