Lorene was the daughter of Sanford Riley Joyce and Bertie Mae (Chambers) Joyce. She had seven siblings, five that survived to adulthood. Lorene married Henry Clay Brown on April 12, 1938 in Golden Pond and eventually had 10 children, all still living except her youngest, Ricky Lynn Brown, who died as an infant.

Almost six years have passed since my Grandmother passed away, but I still miss her. She was great fun to be around, and it never mattered to her what we were up to, she was always having fun.

She loved to make quilts and crochet. She loved fresh vegetables from her garden. She LOVED icecream. She loved going anywhere in the car, since she never learned to drive herself.

She also gave the best back rubs, because she had long nails. I miss those too! :)

Whenever we would visit, the very first thing we'd always do was go see her. And she was always sitting on her porch swing, watching the traffic. We'd sit and talk to her on the porch then at lunch time, take her to Bob's Drive In in Paducah.

Twice a year she'd come visit us, for two weeks each visit. She was so much fun to sit and talk to, about how things were when she was a kid.

It's strange visiting Paducah now. Her house isn't hers anymore, and it's hard to drive by and not be able to stop. But I still have tons of memories.

She was the kind of Grandmother that anyone would wish for.

She died from a tumor on her pituitary gland and heart problems, after having been in a coma for some time.
