Edgar Lee Collier, (Ed), 87, of Vinton, went to his heavenly home Wednesday, September 25, 2002. He was born January 31, 1915, the son of the late Charles Homer Collier and Cecile Anderson Collier.

Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vada and several brothers and sisters.

He was a WWII Army veteran and retired diesel mechanic.

He is survived by four sons and a daughter-in-law, Neal Collier, Ralph and Connie Collier, Terry Collier and Bill Collier; daughter, Barbara; other survivors include five grandsons, Brian, Jason, Jerry, Sean and Patrick; two granddaughters, Christina and Kelly; three great-grandchildren, Kacie, Courtney and Brandon; several nieces and nephews. Also surviving, a lifelong dear family friend, Helen Foutz and her daughters, Marie, Dot and Joy.

Special thanks to the staff on Floor 4J at the VA Medical Center and a very special thanks to Cathy in the Admissions Office of the VA Medical Center.

A memorial service will be conducted 7 p.m. Wednesday night, October 2, 2002, at Lotz Vinton Chapel. Interment will be private. God take Ed into your arms as he will be missed by all who knew him. Arrangements by Lotz Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel.
