Mr. Dennis Roy Evans, age 73, passed away on September 13, 2020, at his home in Jackson, TN.
He was born on October 31, 1946 at his maternal grandparents' home in Scotts Hill, Henderson, Tennessee. Not long after that, his family moved to Madison County and lived several years in the Bemis area where he attended elementary school. After a few years, his family moved to Gasser Road in Jackson. He was a member of the Skyline Drive Church of Christ along with his mother and sister Carol and where he was baptized into Christ. He attended and graduated from North Side High School in 1968, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. During basic training in Orlando, an old ankle injury made it difficult to do the rigorous physical training resulting in an early honorable discharge. After he got home in 1968, he enrolled in machine shop courses at the Jackson State Area Vocational-Technical School.
Denny married Teresa Carol Jones on June 6, 1969, but she divorced him in a year or so later.
In 1972 he got a job as a machinist for Rockwell International where he worked for 48 years. The company changed names during those years (Porter Cable, Black & Decker and now Stanley Black & Decker).

Mr. Evans is preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Roy Evans and his mother, Ruth Hilda Crews Evans. He is survived by sister, Carol Burkhead; nieces, Julie Olson, and Elizabeth Burkhead and three great nephews: Sarah Hayes, David and Luke Willman.

A memorial was held at 2 pm on Friday, September 18, 2020, at Highland Memorial Gardens with Alan Miller officiating.
