The body of Leonard B. Andrus, who was killed in action overseas on September 8 [sic], 1918, will arrive in this country on Thursday and will be shipped to Springfield for burial.
Andrus enlisted at Alton on May 7, 1917, and was a member of Company B, 138th infantry, in the 35th division. He was a runne, or message carrier. He was killed in action at the age of 21 years.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Andrus, who reside at Rochester; four brothers, Virgil, Richard, Louis, and Merell; and eight sisters, the Misses Grace, Wilma, Hilda, Verna, and Freida Andrus, Mrs. Cora Sanders, Mrs. Alta Schmidt, and Mrs. Mildred Beck.
The body will be taken to Bisch & Son's mortuary chapel where funeral services will be held at a time to be announced later. Sangamon post No. 32, American Legion, will have charge of the last rites.
