Donald D. Bott Sr., age 84, passed away on December 1, 2023, at 6:00 pm, at the Vancrest of Delphos.
Don was born December 25, 1938, in Lima, OH, to Clarence E. and Agnes A. "Agatha" (Schindler) Bott who preceded him in death.
On April 30, 1961, he married Arietta M. "Susie" (Schmenk) Bott who survives in Lima.
In addition to his wife, Don is survived by his son, Donald "Don" (Marne) Bott Jr. of Lima, OH, 2 grandchildren: Dean (Amber) Bott and Kasey Bott all of Lima, OH, a great granddaughter, Ivy Bott, a brother, Terry Bott of Florence, AL and a sister, Cheryl (Danny) Corwin of Lima, OH.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Lora.
In 1957, Don was in the first graduating class of Bath High School.
He was a member of the Ohio Army National Guard.
Don had spent the most of his career working as a machinist with Dana Corporation from which he retired. Through the years he had also worked for Neon Products, Alan Nott and Shawnee Schools where he was a bus driver.
Don was a member of the Horseshoe Pitching Association. He was an avid bowler (Northland Lanes Wednesday Night Men's League) and to the chagrin of his family, he was also a big fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes.
There will be a funeral service held on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 10:00 am at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Officiating the service will be Pastor Tom Powell. Entombment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum following the service where military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and the VFW #1275.
Friends may visit on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
