Carson was the son of Jesse and Emeline (Shangle) Axtell.
In the year 1879 Carson (age 11) went with his parents to the town of Axtell, Marshall County, Kansas. Axtell at that time was a sparsely settled prairie country covered in buffalo grass.
In 1887 the Axtell family moved to Blue Rapids, only 25 miles away, where Carson made his home until 1912.
On Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 29, 1894 he married Laura M. Wheeler.
His early life was spent in the mercantile general store business and later in the lumber business.
In 1901 he took up the electrical line and for over nine years was Chief Electrician of the local power and lighting plant at Blue Rapids.
In 1912 Carson and his family moved to Rich Hill, Missouri.
Then in 1914 they moved to New Bedford, Massachutes. After five years residence in New Bedford they moved across the river to Fairhaven.
Since going to Massachutes Carson has worked for the New Bedford Gas and Edison Light Company as an electrician and since 1917 as Chief Electrician for The Taunton-New Bedford Copper Company now Revere Copper and Brass Inc., a large copper and brass rolling mill. Carson united with the Presbyterian Church at the age of 13, and has been an active member since, serving the Presbyterian Church as Secretary, Treasurer, Elder and Sunday School Superintendent.
After coming to Massachutes Carson united with the Congregational Church, serving as Deacon for several years.
Since 1922 he has spent much time on this genealogy. He is a member of The Institute of American Genealogy.
On Nov. 29, 1944, he and Mrs. Axtell celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, with all of their children and eight grandchildren at home.
