Vernon Marconnet was a Sheriff's Deputy in Maricopa County, Arizona. He died in the line of duty at age 51. Deputy Marconnet stopped to investigate two suspicious vehicles. He found a father and three grown sons who had been drinking and arguing. Deputy Marconnet called for backup. Shortly after his call for assistance, a 9-1-1 call was recieved, stating that an Officer was in trouble. When Officers arrived, they found Deputy Marconnet dead on the ground, beside his Squad Car. After an investigation, it was determined that Deputy Marconnet was putting the older man, the father, into his Squad Car, one of the son's grabbed Deputy Marconnet's Service Revolver, and gave it to his father. All four suspects were arrested and charged with murder. Deputy Marconnet was survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.
