Grace Beers
Doniphan - Grace E. Beers, 90, of Doniphan died Tuesday, July 14, at a Grand Island hospital. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Doniphan with the Rev. Rodney Armon officiating. Burial will be in Cedar View Cemetery in Doniphan.
Visitation will be 9:10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Doniphan.
Mrs. Beers was born June 5, 1902, at Doniphan to William and Emma (Walker) Woodman. She grew up and attended schools in Doniphan, graduating from Doniphan High School in 1920. She married Zenas H. Beers on Oct. 12, 1921, at Doniphan, after which the couple made their home on a farm in the Doniphan area. In 1934, they moved to the family home in Doniphan to care for her mother and lived there from that time on.
Mrs. Beers worked as a woman's counselor at the Hastings Navy Depot during the war. She served as a Stanley dealer for nine years and worked for th Pickens Insurance Co. and the Bank of Doniphan as a teller. She also served as social correspondent for the Doniphan Herald.
Mr. Beers died in 1969.
