Leonard 'Swede' Schroder, Jr.

Leonard "Swede" Schroder, Jr. age 66, of 13504 Lakeshore Road, Two Rivers, died unexpectedly on Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at his cabin in Newald.

Leonard was born June 23, 1943, in Wabeno, son of the late Leonard Sr. and Nellie Port Schroder. Swede served in the U.S. Army in Germany for three years, returning home in 1963. On Nov. 11, 1961, he married Elizabeth Sikorski in Armstrong Creek. Swede retired from Manitowoc Crane Co. in June 2006. Leonard was an avid outdoorsmen who loved fishing, hunting and spending time at his cabin in Newald. Swede had a love of animals, especially his dogs.

Survivors include his wife: Elizabeth Schroder, Two Rivers; two daughters and sons-in-law: Debra and Tom Mraz and Shirleen and Bruce Boettcher, all of Two Rivers; one son: Richard Schroder, Two Rivers; 10 grandchildren: Rebecca (Edward) Urbanek, Brittoni Watkins and special friend, Chris; Casey Watkins and special friend Kayla; Sara Mraz, Libi Watkins, Lindsay (Tony) Weisner, Brady Boettcher, Landon Boettcher, Bailey Boettcher and Kraig Schroder; four great-grandchildren: Aubri Jo Urbanek, Lily Weisner, Ashlyn Weisner, and Kaden Lesjack; one sister: Darlene (Larry) Schoch, Michigan City, Ind.; one brother: Donald (Nancy) Schroder, Rhinelander. He is further survived by his father-in-law: Henry Sikorski, Round Lake, Ill.; one sister-in-law: Mary (Roger) Russell, Dennis Robertson and Gerald Albrecht; along with nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by two sisters: Betty Mclean and Lois Sheldon; and two brothers: Everett Schroder and Jim Schroder.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th St., Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. William G. O'Brien, with burial to follow in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Highway 310, Manitowoc. Graveside military rites will be accorded by members of the V.F.W. and American Legion Posts of Two Rivers.

The family will greet relatives and friends at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers on Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon.

NOTE: Swede Schroder was originally buried in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, but was later re-buried in Forest View Cemetery.
