Musician. Born April 22, 1935 in Saltillo, Tennessee. His first break in the music business was when he joined Carl Perkins Brothers Band on drums in 1954. In 1960 he turned Johnny Cash's band, The Tennessee Two, into The Tennessee Three when Johnny Cash added him as drummer. He toured with Johnny Cash and served as his road manager until his retirement in 1997. Some of his other credits include playing drums on Carl Perkins' recording of Blue Suede Shoes in 1955 as well as a Sun Studio session of the Million Dollar Quartet that included Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis as well. Notable credits include performing in two of the most successful records in Johnny Cash's career, At Folsom and At San Quentin. He passed at his home in Jackson, Tennessee on September 23, 2020.
