Lake Chelan Mirror (WA) - Wednesday, November 4, 2015

John H. Adams, 75 of Chelan and Lake Cle Elum, Wash. passed away on October 18, 2015. He was born on December 25, 1939 in Roslyn, Wash. to Floyd "Peck" Adams and Matilda "Tillie" Adams (Budeslich). John graduated from Cle Elum Roslyn High School in 1958. After High School John served in the U.S. Army 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii when it became a state. Upon his return he worked for the U.S. Forest Service Fire Suppression crew and spent his winters working at Snoqualmie Pass. In 1963 he married his high school sweetheart, Lorraine Melos. That same year they moved to Kirkland, Wash. where they resided until retiring to Chelan, Wash. in 2002. John was proud to spend his entire working career at Kenworth and its parent company, Paccar International. He started out on the assembly line later moving up to become a supervisor. He loved his job and was proficient at trouble shooting. Recognizing this fact he was promoted to Quality Control for Paccar International where he traveled to 26 countries. He spent a memorable year in the jungles of Malaysia teaching the locals how to assemble large Kenworth trucks using bamboo cranes and living in a hut.

John and Lorraine raised three sons in Kirkland, Wash. but enjoyed their frequent visits back to Roslyn and Cle Elum. After their children became adults they decided to purchase a cabin near Lake Cle Elum where the family could gather.

John loved wrenching, tinkering, fixing, reading, and being outdoors. He was always willing to volunteer including coaching his sons' soccer teams when they were young, working on Habitat for Humanity houses, being a docent at the Chelan Museum, assisting with Chelan Downtown Association events, and leading the Newcomer Group Litter Pick Up Crew. One of his favorite retirement "jobs" was assisting with bottling, Wine Crush, and other events at the Lake Chelan Winery, most notably playing Santa Claus. John loved shooting the breeze with anyone that would listen. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and especially enjoyed the large Adams Family reunions held in Roslyn. John was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Charles Adams. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lorraine (Chelan/Lake Cle Elum); sons Mike (Maria); Mark (Kathy); Jeff (Amy); grandchildren Jacob, Joe and Emma Adams; sister Francis (Gene) Bagnasco; brothers James; Richard (Marilyn); Floyd (Bettyle); sister-in-laws Jenny Sue Adams and Judy (Jim) Simpson; numerous nieces, nephews and their spouses; numerous grand nieces and grand nephews.

The family wishes to thank all his amazing caregivers that he had over the past 4 1/2 months. A celebration of John's life will be held on November, 14, from 1-4 p.m. at the Lake Chelan Eagles. For more information and to view his online guestbook visit www.telfordschapel.com. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Habitat for Humanity, Our House Cancer Care in Wenatchee, or the Confluence Health Foundation.
