Obituary:
Belford, Dr. Charles H 85 on September 17, 2005 of Laconia, NH. He practiced Veterinary Medicine in Deerfield, MA for more than 40 years and retired in 1983. He was a member of the Mass Veterinary Assoc. & and honorary alumnus of The Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Belford began racing Siberian Husky sled dogs at the age of 10 and over the next 50 years won championships in N.E Sled Dog Club and the Siberian Husky Club of American commended his dedication to the sport and science of sled dog racing.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years Barbara (Hellner), two daughters, Paula Belford of Marlborough, MA and Virginia Gass & her husband Jonathan of West Roxbury, MA, two grandchildren, Jesse Gass & Jonathan Gass of NYC, a sister Marcella Allen of Laconia and several nieces and nephews.

A calling hour will be held from 10-11 am on Thursday, September 22, in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 am at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the NH Humane Society, Box 572, Laconia, NH 03247.
