AGE 102 YEARS
Agnes M. (Cox) Carson of Woburn, passed away, Sept. 26, 2020. Born and raised in Woburn, she was the daughter of the late Patrick J., and the late Anne (Cullen) Cox; and she was the wife of the late James B. Carson who died in 1985.
Agnes was a graduate of Emmanuel College, Class of 1939; and she earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Boston College, Class of 1941.
Agnes worked as a Social Worker for the Massachusetts Department of Public Welfare for many years. During World War II, she was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. Agnes had also worked at her brother in law’s medical practice for a time after retiring from the state.
Agnes and her late husband lived in West Yarmouth prior to her returning to Woburn in 1988. For the past seven years, she had been a resident of New Horizons at Choate in Woburn. Agnes was an active and faithful member of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Woburn.
Sister of the late John Cox, Charles Cox, Edward Cox, Harold Cox, Thomas Cox, Helen Callahan, Anne Twarog, Catherine Cox, and Margaret Foley. Survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and grand and great-grandnieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Arrangements: Graham Funeral Home, Woburn.
Interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Wednesday, October 7 at 11:00 am.
