He was a Danish author and journalist. Bjarnhof went blind in 1918 and wrote several books on the blind. He became especially known as a researcher and interviewer on DR, in TV's childhood. He was also a cellist and church organist and also composed music for some of Poul Henningsen's lyrics. On 28 November 1960 , Karl Bjarnhof founded the Danish Academy together with the art historian Christian Elling , who were both members of the Academy until their deaths. He was the father of the actor Hannah Bjarnhof and the grandfather of the photographer Morten Bjarnhof.
