Brief Biography: obituary from Sunday April 14, 1948 News Press Harry Parker Died in K.C. J. H. Parker Jr., a former St. Joseph resident who was prominent in business and social circles here, died yesterday morning in St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas city following a day's illness. Mr. Parker, who was known to his friends as Harry Parker, came to St. Joseph as a young man, was married here and made his home here until 20 years ago, when the family moved to Kansas City. His wife was formerly Miss Lucy McCord and her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. James McCord. the late S.S. McCord and james H. McCord of this city were her brothers. The McCord-Parker marriage took place June 12, 1901, in the First Presbyterian Church. For many years Mr. and Mrs. Parker lived at 2820 Frederick avenue. During his residence here, Mr. Parker was associated with the Parker-Gordan Wholesale Grocery Company. Survivors are his wife and a son, J.H. Parker III, who recently returned to Kansas City after service in Japan. The funeral will be Tuesday morning at 11 at the Stine & McClure mortuary in Kansas City. The body will then be brought to St. Joseph and placed in the McCord family vault in Mount Mora Cemetery at 2 p.m. with the Rev. James S. Allen officiating.
