Hicks Cornett, 95, of Walterboro, SC, died on Tuesday morning, July 28, 2020, at Veterans Victory House in Walterboro, SC.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 5, at Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, SC. Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home in Walterboro assisted the family.

Mr. Cornett was born March 30, 1925, in Metcalf, to Eley and Clara (Cornklin) Cornett.

He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Cornett graduated with a master's degree from the University of Illinois, and served as an educator and basketball and golf coach in Illinois. He taught business at Hillsboro High School for many years, coached golf and was the Hiltop advisor.
