HYGIENE
On last Wednesday morning George W. Webster, an old pioneer, died of lung trouble at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. B. Forbess. He had been in poor health for several years and the past year he was confined to the house a greater part of the time. Mr. Webster was born in Ashland county, Ohio, October 30, 1834, which would make him 69 years, 2 months and 7 days of age. He remained at home with his parent until his eighteenth year after which he served an apprenticeship at the black smith trade which occupation he followed for four years. In the spring of 1866 he crossed the plains with an ox team and landed in Central City, Colo., and during that season he following mining and prospecting and in the winter worked at his trade. In ??(can't read) he purchased his farm west of this place which he just recently sold and for the past few years he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Forbess. He has devoted much of his time to the nursery business and fruit growing. He had made two trips to California for the purpose of shipping fruit trees to this state and he has sold hundred of trees to the farmers of the St. Vrain Valley, many of which are still bearing fruit.
Mr. Webster was elected County Commissioner for Boulder County in ?? (can't read) and served two terms. His wife preceded him in death a number of years ago. Two daughter still survive him, Mrs. W. L. Bashor and Mrs. W. B. Forbess. The funeral services were conducted in the U. B. Church yesterday at 11 a. m. by the Rev. E. E. Barnes of which church Mr. Webster has been a member for years. The Masons of Longmont acted as pall bearers. We understand he was charter member of that order in Longmont. His remains were followed to the cemetery by a large number of his old friends and neighbors.
