Marian (Windle) Brown's parents John and Elizabeth (Cocking) Windle from North Muskham, Nottinghamshire, England. She arrived in New York on a ship from England on August 21, 1851 with parents and siblings and settled in Niagra County, NY where her youngest sister Caroline was born in 1852. In 1857 the family settled in Hillsdale County, Michigan where she married Levi H. (probably Henry) Brown and had two kids Ada Cora Brown (b. 1862 in Michigan) and John Brown (b. 1871, Illinois). In 1870 Levi, Marian and Ada were living in Chillicothe, Peoria County, IL. Levi likely died before 1877. Marian married a man named Thomas Peer and had one daughter named Nerva Peer, b. 1877, living in Jefferson, Sullivan County, IN in 1880 with Ada and John. She was widowed by 1900, living in Trigg County with her daughter in law Millie.

John (Henry) Brown is my direct ancestor.

Other notes:
Levi H. Brown was a physician. He moved around a lot, living in a different place in each census.
I found a marriage record for a J. Hardin Brown and a Mrs. Marion Brown, Oct 28, 1890 in Trigg County, KY. This explains why Marian's stone says Marian Windle Brown, and not Peer, and why Marian's death certificate is listed undler John Brown.
