Deacon William Charles "Edward" Givens was born on March 8, 1909 in Nashville, Tennessee, the son of William "Will" Givens (1876–1952) and Armintha Sarah (Hunter) Givens (1888–1942).
He was married to Annie Mai Hereford, the daughter of Walter Hereford.
A porter at Methodist Board of Education and living at 1024 Summitt Street in Nashville, Edward was 51 years old and married when he died at home of a coronary infarction on January 13, 1961.
Survivors included his widow Annie Mai, son Edward Givens Jr, stepson Isiah Hereford, sister Mrs Vannorris Lawrence, brother Dozier GIvens in San Francisco, California, mother-in-law and father-in-law Mr & Mrs Walter Hereford of Huntsville, Alabama, aunt Mrs Minnie Givens at Clarksville, Tennessee, three nieces, six nephews, two daughters-in-law, three sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were held on January 16th at Corinthian Baptist Church, and burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashville.
