Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 10, at Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call 6- 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Bereniece was born January 26, 1909, in Kansas City, KS, and was a lifetime area resident. She had been a cashier and saleslady for the Baker Shoe Company for 47 years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church, the Rebekah Lodge, the Shepherd's Center, various senior citizen's club's and had been a volunteer at Bethany Medical Center for over 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Achterberg in 1974, and a son, Charles H. Achterberg in 1966. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. Vernon, Kansas City, KS; son, D. Michael Achterberg, Lee's Summit, MO; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Achterberg, Columbus, IN; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grand-children. (Arrangements: Porter Funeral Home)
