John (Jack) G. Christie of Christie Ridge passed away September 8, 2003 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born at Christie Ridge on August 17, 1928, he was a son of the late Cecil and Frances (Kyle) Christie. Jack was a self employed contractor engaged in lumbering and road construction. He was a loving husband and father, totally dedicated to his family. He was a member of the Plymouth Brethren Church at Thomaston Corner. He is survived by two daughters, Wina Parent, Mazerolle Settlement and Karen Shaw (Darren), McAdam; seven sons, Reed Christie (Mary Ellen), Eric Christie (Betty Lou), twins Dwight and Dwayne Christie, all of Harvey, Randy Christie (Barbara), Kim Christie (Linda), both of Woodstock and Clay Christie (Debbie), Surrey, BC; a daughter-inlaw, Patsy (Henderson) Dwyer, McAdam; four sisters, Christine Reid, Milltown, Beatrice Skala, Sedalia, Missouri, Helene Corey, Harvey Station and Carol Little (Lawrence), Woodstock; 20 grandchildren;11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his wife, Thelma A. (Murphy) Christie in 1998, a son Kent in 1971, a granddaughter Sheri Ann in 1972, a son-in-law, Rick Parent in 1991 and two sisters, Charlotte Lord and Dorothy Goode. Resting at Swan Funeral Home, 1826 Highway 3, Harvey Station with visiting hours Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Knox Presbyterian Church, 2412 Route 3, Harvey Station on Thursday, September 11, 2003 at 2 p.m. Rev. Dr. Basil Lowery and Rev. Bonnie Wynn officiating. Interment will take place at Harvey Settlement Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clay Christie, Dwayne Christie, Darren Shaw, Kevin Christie, Scott Christie and Adam Parent. For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Jack, the family has suggested the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Harvey Ambulance.
