YORK Patti L. Levis, 87, died at 9:45 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2007, at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home. She was the wife of Thomas C. Levis. Born August 21, 1920, in Loganville, she was a daughter of the late George A. and Annette (Glatfelter) Goodling. She served in the U.S. Army during WWII, where she worked as a nurse and obtained the rank of First Lieutenant. She served in the Normandy, Northern France, and Rhineland battles, and received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, the National Defense Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, and the French Jubilee of Liberty Medal on the 5th anniversary of D-Day. After separation from the military, Mrs. Levis worked at American Wire Cloth until the birth of her first child. After her children were grown, she worked for 30 years as the Executive Secretary for the Pennsylvania State Horticultural Association. Mrs. Levis was a member of Loganville Emanuel United Methodist Church and the Grandview Ladies Golf League. She was a past president of the York County Women's Golf Association. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Amy E. Herman and her husband, Michael of York. and Sally A. Samson and her husband, Dan of Windsor; four grandchildren, Tara Goodrich, Chad Herman, Benjamin Samson, and Jennifer Samson; two brothers, Richard Goodling of Waynesboro, Va., and William Goodling of Seven Valleys; and two sisters, Isabel Goodling of Loganville and Nancy Hershner of York. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Goodling; and a daughter, Rebecca Levis, who died at birth. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, September 24, 2007, at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 S. George St., York (the former Hahn Home), with the Rev. Steven Warner, Assistant Pastor of Grace Baptist Church, officiating. Visitations will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 1 to 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Loganville United Methodist Cemetery, with military rites presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
