Obituary for Charles Maffett Allbritton
Charles Maffett Allbritton was born November 12, 1931, in Dallas, Texas to William Berton Allbritton and Edna Lee Albritton. Family also included brother, William Boyd Allbritton.

Charles grew up in Ferris, Texas where his father was distributor for Sinclair Oil Company. He attended Ferris public schools and lettered in three sports, football, basketball, and baseball. He was elected captain and co-captain of the football team during his junior and senior years. He graduated in May 1949 and received the James H. Orr award for outstanding student.

Enrolled at Baylor University in the fall of 1949 and graduated in May 1953 with a BB degree in General Business. While at Baylor, he became a member of Delta Sigma Phi Omega, National Service Fraternity.

After college, he served two years of active duty in the U.S. Army, stationed at White Sands Proving Grounds, New Mexico. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he returned home to Waxahachie Texas to live with his parents. Here is where he met Mary C. Smith who was soon to become the love of his life. Mary had just started her job as he church secretary at Farley Street Baptist Church. She had come to visit his mother and dad to invite them to church. Six months later, they were married on March 8, 1957. One son, Brian was born April 1959.

During this time, he became employed by McGregor Sporting Goods as manager of the distribution center in Dallas, Texas. Later became employed by Sinclair Refining Company as Retail Sales Rep. In 1967, he was transferred to San Antonio, Texas and promoted to General Sales Rep. After several years he became employed by the Northside Independent School District, in San Antonio as a Marketing teacher at Oliver Wendall Homes High School. He retired in 1995 to help Mimi (Mary) take care of their new granddaughter, Katie. They spent their retirement years caring for Katie and traveling across the country in their RV.

In their later years, he and Mary moved to the Villa De San Antonio, retirement community until her passing in May 2017. They were married for 60 years and active members of First Baptist Church San Antonio, where they served on numerous committees and he was a deacon.

H was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, parents and brother. He is survived by his son, Brian; his daughter-in-law, Phyllis and granddaughter, Katelyn.

SERVICES
Visitation will be from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Drive. The Service will begin at 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 23, 2020 at First Baptist Church of San Antonio, 515 McCullough. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Mission Burial Park North.
