After battling a long illness, Patricia Ameil passed away Monday morning , April 22, 2002 at her home in Santa Cruz surrounded by family.


She was born in Santa Cruz on July 1, 1929. Married on October 19, 1946 to Marvin Ameil at the Garfield Park Church. Pat was a homemaker and also worked many years for F.W. Woolworth company in downtown Santa Cruz. An avid cook her grand cooking garnered hundreds of ribbons and awards at Santa Cruz County fairs. Her family was fond of saying "She was Martha Stewart before Martha Stewart."


A 72 year resident of Santa Cruz she volunteer in local PTA and was the past Redwood Council PTA President. She was also a member of Santa Cruz Old Timers, the Rebecca Lodge and den mother for the cub and boy scouts. Pat enjoyed reading and was the trusted keeper of her families long history. Her love of travel and British royalty frequently led her to her beloved England, which she visited many times in the last decade. She enjoyed antique hunting and aquired many treasures, which she proudly displayed throughout her home. Her generosity and love of life endeared her to many friends and family. Pat was especially close to and proud of her four grandchildren and was always involved in their endeavors.


Pat is survived by her husband of 56 years Marvin Ameil of Santa Cruz; a son Richard Ameil of Sacramento. Two daughters, Janet and husband George Arnott of Santa Cruz. Daughter Judith and husband Tom Vlassis of Santa Cruz. Sister, Beverly Turner of Sparks Nevada. Brother, Gordon Beard of Santa Cruz. Granddaughters Melanie and husband Michael O'Conner of Chico. Jamie and husband Lannis Pope of Niles. A grandson, George Arnott and Abby Gonzales of Santa Cruz. Granddaughter , Ashley Arnott. Two nephews and one niece and Dusty the 50 lb. Cat She is preceded in death by her father and mother.


To her family and friends she will always be royality.


A memorial service will be held on Thursday April 25, 2002, at 1 p.m. at the Santa Cruz Memorial Park Chapel.
