"In researching the census (1850 & 1870) & reviewing a reference to Byrd Family Tree which came up on a hint from Ancestry, I find that Nathan was married. Louisa E Debarr she was from Greene Co OH also. Neither Nathan or Louisa show in 1870 [census]. Also in this reference was a comment about Nathan (Bird) registering for the Civil War Draft in 1863 in Miami Co Indiana."

According to 1850 US Census, Sugar Creek Township, Greene Co., Ohio, NARA Roll 683, (Oh, V.27) p.123 [stamped], 28 Sept 1850, E. Nichols, Ass't. Marshall, the following members of the Byrd family (No. 1756, lines 34-38) were enumerated:
- Andrey Byrd, age 36, male, occup. farmer, b. O[H].
- Sarah Byrd, age 34, female, b. O[H].
- Nathan Byrd, age 14, male, b. O[H], attended school with the year.
- William F. Byrd, age 12, male, b. O[H], attended school with the year.
- Madison Byrd, age 4, male, *occup. farmer, b. O[H].
*not probable - perhaps typo in age.
