From Jack L. Byrd, 30 March 1999:

Andrew Bird 1765-1834
married 1) Mary Holker March 14, 1796
married 2) Sarah Griffith February 14, 1822

Andrew was the son of Abraham Byrd 1733-1820 who died in Kentucky.

Andrew Bird and Mary left the Shenandoah Valley in the very early 1800's and settled in Spring Valley Township, Greene County, Ohio. He purchased two hundred acres of land for $7 an acre and for some time lived in a log house until he later built a brick home.

Andrew was a prominent man in his day, being very popular and having the respect of all who knew him. He was free hearted and generous almost to a fault, and helped many poor neighbors in their struggles to gain sustenance or acquire a competence. He was a veteran of the 1812 war.

The children of this marriage were:
1. Adam 1796-1853 married Mary Houck May 28, 1820 - they had a large family of eight sons and one daughter
2. John
3. George
