Montague Herbert Wood, 67, of Arrington, (Nelson County), died Monday Sept. 17, 2007, at his residence.
Born June 3, 1940, in Arrington, a son of the late Herbert C. Wood and Josephine Jones Wood of Shipman, (Nelson County).
Besides his father he was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Wood; and a sister, Ollie Mae Covington.
He was a retired receiving clerk with Southern States and a member of St. Stephens Baptist Church.
Besides his mother he is survived by his loving wife, Mary B. Wood; a daughter, Mary J. Pippin and husband, Johnny, of Shipman; a brother, William C. Wood and wife, Becky, of Arrington; a sister, Jane W. Williams and husband, Walter, of Shipman; a half-brother, Herbert Wood and wife, Peggy, of Madison Heights; four half-sisters, Frances Coates of Madison Heights, Virginia Glover and husband, Percy, of Lynchburg, Mary Mitchell and husband, Les, of Gladys, and Marion Wiles and husband, Ben, of Alexandria; two grandsons, Christopher Lannen and Fiancé, Vicki Lawhorne, and Brandon W. Tyree; three granddaughters; Simone Tyree, Katrina Pippin, and Erica Pippin and Fiancé, Joey Maddox III; and a soon to be great-granddaughter, Amelia Grace Lannen.
He is also survived by two special friends his horse Patsy and pet cat Tiger.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday Sept. 20, 2007, at Wells-Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston with the Rev. David Blevins officiating with Interment to follow in the Wood Family Cemetery in Arrington.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, at the funeral home and at other times at the daughter's residence 523 Montreal Lane, Shipman.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to Roseland Rescue Squad P.O. Box 39 Roseland, VA 22967.
