PHILADELPHIA, April 9 - Wharton Barker, "middle of the road" Populist candidate for president of the United States in 1900, who died at his home here early today at the age of 75, will be buried Tuesday. The funeral, the Barker family announced today, will be "as private as possible." Barker was prominent in the financial and political life of Philadelphia for more that 59 years and was a trustee of the University of Pennsylvania more than 40 years.

Son of Abraham and Sarah (Wharton) Barker. Grandson of Jacob Barker (a cousin of Benjamin Franklin) and William Wharton (maternal grandfather). Husband of Margaret Corlies (married in 1867), who is a daughter of Joseph Baker.
