"County in Brief - Doniphan"
Relatives here received word of the serious illness of Jospeh Schulligan at his home near Farnam, Nebr., on Monday morning, June 2, and were preparing to go at once to be at his bedside when a second message came announcing his death. The body was brought to Doniphan, accompanied by relatives. Funeral services were held from the home of his sister, Mrs. Hollrich at 4:30 and from the Congregational church at 5 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. E. White. Interment was made in Cedar View cemetery. Six nephews of the deceased acted as pall bearers and four ladies, members of the local R.N.A. lodge acted as flower bearers.
Joseph Schulligan was born in Syracuse, N. Y., March 19, 1859. He was aged 65 years, 2 months and 13 days. Mrs. [sic] Schulligan located in this community in the seventies. In 1906 he sold his farm and moved with his family to a farm near Farnam. On April 2, 1892, he was united in marriage with Miss Lena Spiehs in Grand Island. To them one child, Clara, was born. He leaves to mourn his death his wife and daughter, three sisters, Mrs. Barbara Henry of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Mary Richmond and Mrs. Rachael Hollrich of Doniphan.
