Daniel Martin
BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. - Daniel H. "Dan" Martin, 72, 501 Washington St., died at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday at his home after an illness.
Mr. Martin was born Aug. 15,1913, at Galena.
He had lived in Galena most of his life, moving to Baxter Springs 11 years ago.
He was a hoisterman in Tri-State Area mines. He was employed as a machinist for Vickers Inc., Joplin, Mo., retiring in 1974.
He was a member of the Apostolic Faith Church and Masonic Lodge No. 194, both of Galena.
He married Mildred Russell on March 12, 1930. She died March 31, 1971.
He married Joan Murray Parker on April 8, 1975, at Wilmington, Del. She survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Jerry Martin, Copan, Okla., Larry Martin and the Rev. Jeff Martin, both of Galena, and the Rev. Frank Martin, Joplin; three stepsons, Ron Parker, Galena, and Robert Parker and Gregg Parker, both of Baxter Springs; four daughters, Doris Martin, Dravosburg, Pa., Lois Wells, Galena, Grace Ann Martin, Centerton, Ark., and Sheila Crowder, Carl Junction, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Vicki Rahall, Lexington, Ohio, and Brenda Button, Lawrence; a brother, Jeff D. Martin, Ogden, Utah; two sisters, Ruby Jo Johnson, Los Angeles, Calif., and Raye Asbell, Hermiston, Ore.; 31 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena. The Rev. Frank Martin and the Rev. Jeff Martin will officiate.
Burial will be in Galena Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

GALENA, Kan. — Mrs. Mildred Martin, 58, 1204 Harvard St. died at 7:50 a.m. Thursday in St. John's Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., where she had been a patient two days. She had been ill about three years.
Mrs. Martin was born Feb. 9, 1914, in Jackson Hollow, Jasper County, Missouri, and had lived in Galena 44 years.
She married Dan Martin Dec. 20, 1930, at Galena. She was a member of Amy Chapter No. 195, Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, are four sons, Jerry Martin, Copan, Okla., Larry Martin, and the Rev. Jeff Martin, both of Galena, and the Rev. Frank Martin, Wichita; four daughters, Mrs. Doris Martin, Dravosburg, Pa., Mrs. Lois Wells, Galena, Grace Ann Martin, Joplin, and Sheila Martin, of the home; her mother, Mrs. Blanche Chapman, Galena; a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Evans, Galena; and 15 grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Derfelt Funeral Home, with the Rev. Terry McCamey and Dr. Gerald Kellar officiating.
Burial will be in Galena Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gerald Anderson, John Stidham, Dempsey Jackson, Archie Clark, Robert Walker and Robert Scott.
OES services will be conducted at the funeral home.
