As per information from the cemetery caretaker, the ashes of Ms. Naujoks were buried in her grandparents' (Armen and Rose Naujoks) grave at Roselawn Cemetery. In 2010 the ashes were removed by the family. No other information is available. The daughter of Holly and Gerald Naujoks, Christen was attending the University of North Carolina at Wilmington when she began dating John Peck. Soon into the relationship, Peck became violent and in March 2004 Christen called the police about his behavior. She took out a domestic violence protective order against him. Sadly, on June 4th, he shot her 11 times in front of her apartment.

Peck was never convicted. He fled to the NC mountains and crashed his SUV and died in the accident.

Barely 10 months after Christen’s murder by ex-boyfriend John Peck, her parents' visit coinciding with the N.C. Azalea Festival is a bittersweet homage to the things Christen held dear and another way to keep her close in their hearts.

The Naujokses are still searching for ways to cope with their daughter’s death. The topic remains painful to discuss, but the Ohio couple wants the public to know help is available for victims of domestic violence and that steps can be taken to avert other such tragedies.

Christen is deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
