Forty-two-year resident, John Leland (Pete)Chambless, 65, of 346 Sharp St., died Thursday evening in the Lake Wales Hospital after an extended illness.
Funeral services were held Monday morning at 11 o'clock in the Marion Nelson Chapel. Rev. Derrel Strickland and Rev. Phil Daniels officiated. Burial was in the Lake Wales cemetery.
Mr. Chambless was born in Opp, Ala., May 8, 1916, and retired in 1978 from Moran's Paint and Body Shop, where he worked for 30 years.
Mr. Chambless is survived by his wife, Mrs. Juanita Chambless; two daughters, Mrs. Brenda Reddoch and Mrs. Sandra Elliott of Bartow, his mother, Mrs. Cleon Chambless of Clearwater; two brothers, Eldrich Chambless of Opp, Ala., and Goffrey Jackson of Clearwater; five sisters, Mrs. Marie Collier of Lake Wales, Mrs. Audy Lawrence of Opp, Ala., Mrs. Margie Thompson of Inverness, Mrs. Helen Hall of Clearwater and Jean Phillips of Columbus, Ga; and two grandchildren.
Marion Nelson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
