MELVIN A. STANGEL
(1925 - 2012)

Melvin A. Stangel, 87, formerly of 416 Park Lane, Mishicot, entered into eternal life on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the Harmony Assisted Living Facility in Denmark.

Melvin was born January 15, 1925, in Two Rivers, to the late Louis and Barbara Dvorak Stangel and has been a lifelong area resident. He married the former Donna Sosnosky on November 21, 1945, at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Tisch Mills and she preceded him in death on November 17, 1995. He served his country in the United States Army in Japan. Melvin farmed in the Tisch Mills area for many years and had a great interest in working with horses.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald J. and Lila Stangel, of Luxemburg; Mel and Nancy Stangel, of Denmark; John E. and Wendy Stangel, of Maribel; two grandchildren, Lisa (William) Loberger, Douglas Schreiber, and three great-grandchildren, Max Loberger, Alex Loberger, and LCpl Daltyn LeClair. He is further survived by one sister, Elaine (George) Plansky, of Two Rivers; and by his nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 25, 2012, at the Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home, 344 So. State St., Mishicot, with the Reverend John Becker officiating, with burial to follow of his cremated remains in St. Isidore the Farmer, Nativity of the BVM Catholic Church Cemetery, in Tisch Mills. Relatives and friends may call after 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home, until the time of service at 3 p.m.

The Stangel family would like to express a very special thank you to the entire staff of the Harmony Assisted Living Facility of Denmark, and to Southern Care Hospice, for the love, and special care given to Melvin during his illness. Your kindness will always be remembered.
