Robert L. Rodriguez, 84, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at Homestead Health & Rehabilitation Center in Garden City.

He was born Sept. 17, 1923, in Deerfield, to Jose and Maria Luna Rodriguez, and attended school in Deerfield.

Mr. Rod¬­riguez worked for the alfalfa mills before retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. His hobbies included gardening, woodworking, carpentry, fishing and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Ramona (Ortega) Rodriguez, whom he married at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City; three sons, Joseph Rodriguez of Philadelphia, Daniel Rodriguez of Garden City, and James Rodriguez of Osawatomie; five daughters, Juanita Esquivel, Anita Gallardo, Cecilia Ortiz, Marie Rodriguez and Lucinda Archuleta, all of Garden City; 25 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Robert Rodriguez Jr. and Martin Rodriguez.

Rosary will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden City, with the Rev. Trong Tran officiating. Burial will be in Deerfield Cemetery.
