Obituary

Belva Beatrice Banta. 103, of Marble Hill, Mo., died on Oct 24, 2020, at Woodland Hills Stonebridge in Marble Hill. One of 12 children of John William and Minnie Elmina Proffer, Bollinger, she was born Feb. 5, 1917. She graduated from Lutesville High School and progressed on to cosmetology school.

On Oct 22, 1938, she married Forrest Waldon Banta. He preceded her in death.

Belva worked as a hairdresser most of her working years. She and Forrest returned to Lutesville from St. Louis in 1972. She was a member of Marble Hill United Methodist Church and the women's bowling league. She was inducted into the Cape Girardeau Bowling League Hall of Fame and continued bowling into her 80's with an average per game of 167. Together with her sisters she traveled many trips.

She is survived by a son, Paul (Celeste) Banta of Lake Saint Louis, Mo.; a grandson, Ryan (Michelle) Banta of Chesterfield, Mo.; two great-granddaughters, Isabelle and Scarlett; three sisters: Connie Mayfield, Hazel Hutson, and Mary Lou Hansen, all of Marble Hill; and a brother, Dick Bollinger, also of Marble Hill.

She was predeceased by six brothers: William, Luther, Charlie, Florence, Truman and Carl; and by a sister, Ina.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, Oct 29, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at Baker Cemetery near Marble Hill. Hutchings Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
