Obituary read: "Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Pape Memorial Home for Oliver L. Cravens Sr., 89, of 715 Ferndale, Tilton. He died at 9 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 11, 1977) at the Americana Healthcare Center, where he had been a patient 21 days. The Rev. Welber Griffith will officiate and burial will be in Gundy Cemetery near Bismarck. Visitation will be from 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Cravens had worked as a stationary engineer at Hicks Laundry and also at Phillips Laundry, retiring in 1964. Prior to that, he had been a farmer and later, a coal miner.
He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. His hobby was gardening.

Born Oct. 14, 1887, in Grape Creek, he was a son of Charles and Martha Martin Cravens. He attended Grape Creek School. In 1933 in Danville, Mr. Cravens married Marion Hollister. She died f Dec. 26, 1954. He later married Olive Black on May 29, 1955 in Danville. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Oliver L. Cravens Jr. and David E. both of Danville; a stepson, Richard; Strange of Houston, Tex.; two daughters, Nancy Pat Andrews of Tilton and Hazel Rizzo of Danville; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Paula Roberts of Greeley, Colo., and Mrs. Faye Crawford of Urbana; brother, Presley Cravens of Danville; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Plunkett of Indianapolis; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister."
