Cravens had lived at his Bismark address 65 years. He worked in the coal mines and then worked as a carman in the Chicago & Eastern Railroad shops from 1936 until retirement in 1956. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen. He was a member of the First Church of Christ.
He was born October 3, 1898 in Grape Creek, a son of Charles and Martha Martin Cravens. He attended Grape Creek School and Daniel School. On July 14, 1923 in Covington, Indiana, he married Amelia Belle Vickery.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Charles A., Ralph E. and Carl of Danville; two daughters Dorotha Dougherty and Helen Rosnett, both of Danville; two sisters, Dorothy Plunkett of Indianpolis and Mrs. Mary Cockrell of Big Pine, California; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters."
