John Clarke Howard (1846-1925) was a civil engineer and married in 1874, his first cousin, Mary Howard (1845-1918), daughter of Edward Calthorpe (1817-85) and Lucy Florence Crump Howard (1818-54). They lived in Ashland, Va. Their children were Calthorpe (1881-85) and twins Edward Thomas Clarke (1887-1960) and Ethel Howard (1887-1954). Edward Thomas Clarke Howard (1887-1960) was also a civil engineer and served in WWI in France. He married Virginia Binford (1886-1958)(dsp), of Richmond, Va. Ethel Howard (1887-1954) married in 1918, Rev. Dr. William Archer Rutherfoord Goodwin (1869-1939), son of John Francis (1843-93) and Letitia Rutherfoord Goodwin, of Williamsburg, Va. He was an Episcopal minister at the famous Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg and with Henry Ford? was instrumental in the reconstruction of Williamsburg. Their sons were Edward Howard (1919-2010); 2Lt. William Archer Rutherfoord, Jr. (1921-43) whose plane was lost over Sicily in WWII; and John Seaton Goodwin (1924-86). Edward Howard Goodwin (1919-2010)(UVa. 1942) lived in Charlottesville, Va. and married in 1942, Alice Barraud Cocke (1920-2010). Their children were Edward Howard, Jr. who married Ellen, William Archer Rutherfoord, III who married Emily, and Breckinridge Goodwin who married William Longstreth. In 2010, they had eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
