Elmer Haynes, a resident of Morgantown, died Saturday, July 24, 2004, in Columbus. He was 82.

Mr. Haynes was born January 27, 1922, in Indianapolis and was the son of Elmer H. and Carrie (Anderson) Haynes.

Mr. Haynes was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in World War II.

He was retired from Nemco Incorporated and Navistar, where he worked for several years as a toolmaker. He was a handy man and enjoyed counted cross-stitch.

Survivors include: a son, the Reverend Dr. Dick Haynes of Connersville; two daughters, Kathy Henry of Indianapolis and Peg Pelmarez of Bertran, Texas; two grandchildren, Rich Haynes and Jessika Henry.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society of South Central Indiana Hospice.

The Cremation Society of Indiana handled the arrangements.
