Oliver was the son of John R. and Caroline (Layman) Daily. In 1880, they were living in Clinton County, Indiana. He had a younger brother, John, and a younger sister, Alice.
On December 21, 1898, he married Mary Margaret Campbell in Page County, Virginia. Mary was born there in August 1879.
In 1900, he was living in Page County, Virginia with his wife, Mary. Their daughter, Thelma, was born on the June 12 and the Census was taken on the 9th.
He and his daughter, Thelma, died on the same day.
